Enriching Lives Through Community Activities
The Community Day Program at Harc, Inc. provides individualized support and meaningful activities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We focus on enhancing quality of life through skill development, social engagement, and community integration. Individuals take part in a variety of activities tailored to their interests, including volunteering, recreational experiences, and life skills training. Our dedicated team works collaboratively with families and caregivers to ensure that each individual's needs and goals are met in a supportive and engaging environment.
Volunteer Engagement
A core part of our program is Volunteer Engagement, where individuals actively give back to the community through partnerships with local organizations. Our volunteer sites include FreshStart Pallet, CT FoodShare, Bloomfield Health Center, Auerfarm, Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall, Westmoor Park Farm, CT Harm Reduction, Camp Courant, Chelsea Place ICARE, Mercy Housing/Shelter, Hands On Hartford, and the Salvation Army. These experiences promote a sense of purpose and belonging, while also helping participants develop valuable skills and build community connections.
Self-Advocacy
We offer Self-Advocacy Groups that empower individuals to find and use their voices. These groups provide a platform for participants to express their needs, share their experiences, and learn about their rights. Through guided discussions and activities, participants build confidence and practice self-advocacy skills that prepare them to lead more independent lives.
