Marian Leist is a passionate advocate and leader with over 25 years of experience in the field of intellectual disabilities. As the Chief Operating Officer at Harc, Inc., she is dedicated to empowering individuals to live their fullest lives with dignity, inclusion, and quality.
Throughout her tenure at Harc, Marian has held various leadership roles, where she has successfully spearheaded initiatives aimed at enhancing self-advocacy and independence. She has led the implementation of innovative programs that focus on personalized support, community integration, and skill development, ensuring that each person has access to the resources they need to thrive.
Marian is particularly proud of her work in advocacy, where she empowers individuals to voice their wants and needs, fostering a culture of self-advocacy that inspires confidence and resilience. Her commitment to creating inclusive environments has led to numerous community partnerships that expand opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
In addition to her role at Harc, Marian serves as the Secretary for the Hartford Probus Club, where she fosters connections among professionals dedicated to community service. She is also an active member of the DDS Supportive Housing Taskforce and the DDS Assistive Technology and Remote Supports Workgroup, collaborating with stakeholders to enhance housing options and technology solutions for individuals with disabilities.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Post University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, Marian combines her academic foundation with her extensive hands-on experience to drive meaningful change. She is also an active member of several professional organizations focused on disability rights, contributing her expertise to broader discussions on policy and best practices.
