Hartford, HARC, Inc. is very pleased to announce NBC Connecticut as the recipient of its 2012 Community Partner Award. The award, which was presented at HARC’s 61st Annual Meeting on June 21, at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, CT is given in recognition of a company or organization that has formed a partnership with HARC to increase public understanding and community awareness to further HARC’s mission. NBCHARC’s association with NBC Connecticut began in 2006 when HARC became an NBC Connecticut Partner in a Caring Community. Over the years, NBC Connecticut has provided significant support for HARC, with the organization’s major fundraising events; The Annual Auction, The HARC Walkathon and The HARC Family Classic, but also especially during 2011, HARC’s 61st Anniversary Year.
Providing television personalities as event hosts and attendees, producing and airing public service announcements with great frequency, doing on-air interviews about HARC’s events, programs and families, contributing time, energy and expertise on committees, NBC Connecticut has been a substantial community partner for HARC.
According to HARC’s VP for Development, Catherine Gibbons Way, “HARC has been very fortunate to have the support of NBC Connecticut, as a partner in a caring community. We very much appreciate the media exposure we have received, and the NBC Connecticut personalities, Bob Maxon, Gerry Brooks and Brad Field have all done a wonderful job at our fundraising events. And of course, Community Projects Director, Emma Asante has been a real treasure on our Development Committee and as a resource for us.”
NBC Connecticut President / General Manager, David Doebler, who accepted the HARC award says, “The work that HARC does is important to our community and we are honored to support HARC through our Partners in a Caring Community initiative. All of us at NBC Connecticut extend our deep appreciation to the HARC team for their tireless work on behalf of those with intellectual disabilities.”
