“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”
Dr. Suess
Our week was full of “Inspiring Moments”. These moments allowed us, for a minute (hopefully hours), to enjoy the good things around us.
Our moments include:
-
Amazing employees, friends, board members and families making or donating washable, reusable masks to protect our community. We were able to distribute to all group homes and staff who are working in community settings this week.
-
IPads donated for family members to virtually-visit with their loved ones through Facetime or other methods.
-
Generous donors fulfilling our wishes through Amazon or by donating food and other items to Harc.
-
Spring Baskets full of activities, treats and surprises delivered to all the homes.
-
Residents and staff planting seeds to grow vegetables, flowers and herbs.
-
And best of all our Harc Shoppers delivering groceries and supplies to our group homes throughout the week.
As the week went by, our shoulders were heavy at times, our hearts were empty too but it was not for long because our Harc family was there at the right moment to lift us up. We were here for each other and with that said, I want you all to know I am very proud to walk alongside everyone here, it has been a truly inspiring week!
Though,
-
1 individual in a CCH home is currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, we anticipate them making a full recovery. The CCH provider is non-symptomatic.
-
A Resident in our group home has tested positive for COVID-19 and is non-symptomatic.
-
The Residents of one of our Group Homes have had their quarantine lifted as no one has been symptomatic in 14 days.
-
One of our Residents not related to COVID-19 is under medical care. The staff who are working with the individual are dedicated to give them the best support.
Our extraordinary, dedicated staff continued to provide our residents with the best possible support in these trying times. Thank You!
To quote beloved children’s TV host Mr. Rodgers,
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'”
For the individuals we support, those helpers are YOU.
As a reminder, the following supports are available for you:
- Voicemail box for questions: (860) 218-6044
- Email address for questions: pandemicquestions@harc-ct.org
- To hear announcements from Harc: (860) 218-6033
In the meantime, we will all continue to follow guidelines and regulations set forth by the Governor, Department of Developmental Services, Office of Early Childhood and other authorities. We will continue to advocate for additional resources to see us through.
Looking for ways to help? We are looking for people to sew masks, donate supplies on Amazon Wishlist, or share activity ideas. Please feel free to contact us if you can help.
We are in this together,
Annette
