October 9, 2020 (Hartford, CT) — Harc, Inc., a local nonprofit that helps people with intellectual disability live lives of quality, inclusion, and dignity, today announced that Kenneth Cabral has been named as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Cabral’s employment with Harc will commence on November 16, 2020. He succeeds Andrea Barton-Reeves who resigned in February.

Cabral has more than 22 years of experience working for the State of Connecticut’s Department of Developmental Services and Department of Children and Families providing innovative and creative solution-oriented human services with an established pattern of successful accomplishments. He brings comprehensive experience from various jurisdictions responsible for provider relations, budget, service coordination, quality system design, service management, and successful implementation of organizational design. Prior to that, Cabral assumed several roles with private providers, primarily associated with residential services, serving people with intellectual disabilities.

“The board and I are ecstatic to welcome Ken to the Harc family. We are very confident that Ken’s expertise in the industry will allow Harc to continue its tradition of providing dignity, quality, and inclusion for the individuals and families we serve,” said Greg Calnen, Harc’s Board Chairman. “Ken’s comprehensive experience will bring him back to his roots as a private provider and lead Harc into the future. I would also like to extend my thanks and sincere appreciation to Annette Hargrove who served as Interim CEO for the past 8 months.”

“I am honored and thrilled to work with an agency that has an established 69-year history of providing quality support in our community, strong advocacy, and is focused on the people we support and their families,” said Kenneth Cabral.

Cabral received a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Rehabilitative Services from Assumption College and a Master of Education from Antioch New England Graduate School.
