As you know, Harc President and CEO Andrea Barton Reeves has accepted a position as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Authority (PFML). She will continue to lead Harc until Feb. 27 and will begin her new position on Mar. 2. During the search for a permanent replacement, Annette Hargrove, Harc’s Vice President of Administration, will serve as interim CEO.
The board has already formed a search committee. We will be choosing an experienced outside search consultant and we expect to announce our selection within the next few months. Harc has a detailed succession plan that we will follow. Andrea will remain available to Annette during the transition and has assured us that she will be a resource for that new leader when he or she is selected.
It is important that you know that our organization is strong and well-prepared to continue our mission of supporting the needs of people with intellectual and related disabilities and their families.
Harc’s programs and services will continue, managed by our capable and experienced vice presidents and senior leaders. Here are some of the things we look forward to:
- Spring Fling – On Mar. 19 we will celebrate the achievements of Harc staff, including recognizing 23 long-term Harc employees for their long-term service to the organization.
- Expanded services for children with autism – We were recently awarded a contract from the State’s Birth to Three program to serve children and families in Enfield, Vernon, Granby, East Granby, Hartford, and New Britain.
- Harc at the Park Walk ‘n Roll – On April 25 at Dunkin Donuts Stadium we will gather for our 16th Annual fundraiser to support the work of Harc in the community.
- Wheeler-Harc Dental Collaboration – We will be collaborating with Wheeler to help meet the oral health needs of low-income members of our community who have intellectual disabilities. Harc will provide consultation and training for Wheeler’s dental team to foster engagement and understanding of the unique needs of this population.
We are a stronger, more stable and more responsive organization today because of the dedication and heart Andrea brought to her position. I know all of you join me in thanking her for her service to our organization and wishing her well in her new position.
I will keep you informed as the search for Harc’s next president and CEO moves forward. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
