Individuals with I/DD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) and their Families Win in the Appropriations Budget!
The Appropriations Committee just released their budget, House Bill 5030- Revisions to the FY 15 Midterm Budget. The budget proposal includes an increase of $4,439,000 to fund 100 residential placements on the DDS Priority One waiting lists and an increase of $750,000 to increase Family Support Grants which will provide subsidies to 440 families on the waiting/planning lists for residential services.
In a year where very few will see any increases, legislators have put your needs and the needs of your loved ones first! This is an incredible victory! All of the effort put in by HARC’s participants, families, supporters and staff has paid off.
But this legislative session is not over and we need to do all that we can to protect this funding!
Please contact Senator Beth Bye, Representative Toni Walker, members of the I/DD caucus and the legislators you have been talking to and thank them for putting the needs of individuals with I/DD and their families first this year.
